TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNW) – The Kansas Department of Health and Environment publicizes that Dr. Joan Duwve has been named the deputy state well being officer.
Dr. Duwve has been serving as a advisor for KDHE since November 2020. She has been main the state COVID-19 testing program and helping with well being fairness initiatives.
Earlier than her advisor position, Dr. Duwve served as director of public well being for the South Carolina Division of Well being and Environmental Management, affiliate dean of follow for the Indiana College Richard M. Fairbanks Faculty of Public Well being in Indianapolis and chief medical officer for the Indiana Division of Well being.
“Dr. Duwve is a public well being knowledgeable, and we’re very lucky to have her in Kansas,” mentioned Dr. Lee Norman, KDHE Secretary. “Her earlier experiences in Indiana and South Carolina will help us in all public well being issues.”
Dr. Duwve holds a medical diploma from Johns Hopkins College and a grasp of public well being from the College of Michigan. She started her position on July 19.
