TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — The state that made saloon smasher Carrie Nation well-known is transferring to permit folks to get beer and cocktails to go after the coronavirus pandemic.
Kansas lawmakers accredited a bill final week to permit to-go beer and alcoholic drinks from golf equipment, bars and eating places till 11 p.m., so long as the drinks are in sealed containers and clear luggage that discourage tampering.
The measure is headed to Gov. Laura Kelly after the Senate accredited it, 30-9, and the Home handed it, 101-18, on Friday. It continues a coverage Kelly set by executive order in April 2020 when Kansas was underneath a statewide stay-at-home order and that remained in impact via March.
Kristi Brown, senior director of state authorities relations for the Distilled Spirits Council of the USA, mentioned Monday that the pandemic “eviscerated” eating places, and such non permanent insurance policies in additional than 30 states have been “a lifeline.”
